When I get invited into a family’s home to document their life with a new baby, it’s nothing short of an honor. But when that same family asks me to come back to capture their family growing again, I feel humbled by the trust they’ve placed in me for a second time.
This family was so sweet and lovely the first time around and that newborn session turned out to be one of my all-time favorites. The light in their St. Louis home — especially in the nursery — was just delicious. And the styling, from paint colors, furniture choices, and nursery details to a picture-perfect wardrobe, was just on point. See that session by clicking here.
But since those newborn photos were taken, not only did they have another baby, but they moved to a new house. So while I was sure they’d look amazing and their home would be lovely, I wasn’t sure what type of light or decor I’d see when I stepped inside their new home.
Well, let me just say, not only was it absolutely gorgeous, but the colors were just the ideal complement to make this session unique, yet perfectly coordinated with the photos from their first baby’s in-home newborn session.
They even had a personalized blanket made to match the font and style of the one we used in their older kiddo’s newborn photos, but in its own lovely color.
I loved getting to recreate some of the special photographs I created for Finnegan. This time with sweet Evelyn. And making so much more magic with the whole family, now one person bigger!
Their family was, once again, a dream to photograph. And it was extra special to see how Finn, the new big brother who I last saw as a tiny, new baby, has grown into a sweet, rambunctious toddler. What a joy to get to witness babies and families grow and change. And to be entrusted with the important job of recording those changes for parents and kids to look back on for years — even generations — to come.
