I am ever so grateful that I found Dana to be our birth photographer. To prepare, Dana asked thoughtful questions about our hopes for both the birth and its photography. After we selected her and as part of the package, she volunteered to come to a prenatal appointment with our OB, which was an awesome way to get to know each other and help our OB feel comfortable with her. She was amazing when the day(s!) finally came to bring our child into the world, staying back when we needed her to and somehow reading when we could use an extra hand. At one point during labor, I asked my partner and doula to repeat a saying to me. I’ll never forget Dana, hours later and at exactly a moment when I needed encouragement, repeating it to me. Hearing those words and knowing she’d remembered gave me such a boost of confidence. In my weeks and months postpartum, I took my time reviewing her work, and found that we had received not only gorgeous, art quality photographs, but also an invaluable tool for mentally and emotionally processing the birth. They helped me remember beautiful moments I had forgotten, and understand the hard moments I had had trouble understanding. The photographs themselves reflect Dana’s care and vision. Some photos capture intimate moments that we’ll keep to ourselves, and others capture images that I am grateful to get to share with family and friends. Individual photos have such a range of expression, from focusing on singular, simple moments to elegantly documenting the intricacy of birth. And when my partner and I looked at the images in series, we were awed by how Dana seemed to be able to be in two places at once, even in exciting moments with many people in the room. Dana’s art is worth every penny to me, and her presence at the birth was heartening. I recommend her photography services without hesitation.
